Spending hours on a plane isn’t a task anyone particularly relishes – even when the destination more than compensates. However, there are a few ways to make the journey go more smoothly, and mastering what to wear is top of the list. Here’s how…
Comfort is key
The priority with long-haul travel is to wear something cosy – you can always change into a more destination-appropriate once you arrive. Joggers or jersey trousers are perfect for this. Unlike denim, the waistband won’t dig in after a few hours stationary, and the super-comfy fabric will protect you against any aircon-induced chills.
Tip: Remember to move about during your flight and practise some gentle stretches to prevent any pain from sitting too long.
Temperatures can fluctuate quite dramatically during a flight. While you might be warm during take-off, you could find yourself shivering a few hours in. A tee in breathable cotton, or temperature-regulating linen, is the ideal base layer, while a hooded jumper will keep you toasty when the temperature drops. For added warmth, layer on a denim jacket, which will also look great on arrival.
Tip: Don’t rely on airplane food as your only source of nutrition. Stock up on slow energy-release snacks, such as nuts and dried fruit, to keep you going.
We can all struggle to drift off in the air, however, little luxuries can help us mimic our bedtime routine to make falling asleep easier. Brush your teeth, put on a pair of exquisitely soft cashmere socks and block out light with an eye mask to help replicate your evenings at home and set your mind for sleep.
Tip: It’s not very often we get the opportunity to disconnect completely. Avoid the temptation to use the on-board WiFi and start that book you’ve been meaning to read, or just catch up on some well-deserved rest.
Don’t forget…skin essentials
In addition to dressing for the flight, it’s also important to take care of your skin while in the air. On-board aircon can be drying, so pick up our advanced skincare essentials kit which contains carry-on sized versions of our award-winning products. Use our Super Balm and Super Serum to hydrate mid-flight.
Tip: Skip the alcohol trolley in favour of regular glasses of water, as alcohol will dehydrate you further.
