Here at The White Company, we really believe luxurious pieces don’t need to break the bank. Quality – not quantity – and timeless solutions for living have always been our passion. Over the last 23 years, we have sought out the finest craftspeople around the world to make accessible luxury a reality – whether that’s for your home, your children or your wardrobe.
Delve deeper into the stories behind some of our favourite products with our artisan edit. From whisper-soft cashmere jumpers, which start their journey atop the Inner Mongolian mountains, to placemats for your table, which help over 2,000 Bangladeshi women sustain a decent wage to support their families, we really do weave quality and love into every piece.
A tale of yarns
A craftsperson is only as good as their tools and, at The White Company, we believe we are only as good as the materials we use, which is why we search high and low to find the best.
The Cashmere Striped Jumper
Made from the sumptuously soft under-down of Inner Mongolian cashmere goats, there’s no material quite as luxurious as cashmere. We love how the classic Breton stripe of our Cashmere Striped Jumper gives it a timeless appeal. Plus, all of our 100% cashmere garments come with a zip-lock storage bag, essential for keeping your pieces clean and protected all-year round.
The Tibetan Sheepskin Stool
This statement sheepskin stool looks every bit as heavenly as it feels. Sourced from the highlands of Tibet, it’s the silkiest and strongest fleece on the market. The characteristically long, curly-wool pile gives this stool a visual – and tactile – appeal; in fact, it’s impossible not to stroke it.
Behind the design
In our digital age, it’s easy to forget that many of our products are lovingly crafted by hand. We work with the finest artisans across the globe, who have tirelessly honed their skills to make the intricate details on our products a reality.
The Toulouse Mat
A real favourite from our Spring Collection, this bathmat is made entirely by hand. Inspired by our travels, its chunky knit will give your bathroom a spa-like feel, while the plump pom-pom tassels add a touch of playfulness.
The Hampson Woods Carving Board
Made from one solid piece of ash-wood timber, sustainably sourced from the local woodlands of Cumbria, these carving boards have a truly individual charm. The experts at Hampson Woods work in their traditional workshop to craft you a board that will be an integral part of your Sunday roasts for years to come.
Meet the makers
Meet the people behind our products. Our in-house buying teams spend hours sourcing the finest factories to ensure the quality of each and every one of our pieces.
The Jute Placemats
Sourced from Fair Trade suppliers in Bangladesh, this initiative helps over 2,000 of the country’s poorest women sustain a decent wage to support their families. Skillfully handmade from local jute, which gets its remarkable blonde colouring from the fresh flowing water in which it grows, these artisanal placements are both an ethical luxury and beautiful addition to any dining-room table.
The Linen Shirt
In their picturesque mill located in Ballymena, Northern Ireland, the weavers at Baird McNutt bring over a century of expertise to making the authentic linen for our Linen Stripe T-Shirt. The beauty of Irish linen lies in the intricacy of its creation, and the depth of knowledge that comes with this. For example, it can take up to 40 hours just to set up a loom.
