It’s the first Bank Holiday of the year and, if you’re anything like us, you’ll be looking forward to spending quality time with your nearest and dearest. Follow these four simple steps to make your job as hostess easy and your guests feel like they’ve checked into a luxury hotel (a warning, though, they may never want to leave).
1. Candles are always a great way to create a warm and welcoming space. Opt for something with floral notes, like Rose or Iris, to fill their bedroom with a Spring-like feel before they arrive. Hint: scent your home according to the space. For example, something herbal like Wild Mint works perfectly in the kitchen.
2. Make your guests feel at home with a pair of fluffy slippers and a white robe. A lovely surprise for when they go up to their room, and perfect for a relaxed Easter Sunday morning spent around the table having a lazy brunch. Hint: to complete these hotel-luxe touches, why not also stack a fresh pile of cotton towels on the end of the bed?
3. Pick-up a fresh bunch of blooms from your florist or, with the daffodils starting to appear, fresh from your garden. Arrange in a glass vase and put them in pride of place on your mantelpiece. Hint: move the vase to the dining table just before you sit down for Easter lunch for a beautiful and effortless centrepiece.
4. Rather than spending time making a dessert, why not have a bit of fun by letting everyone make their own Easter nests – especially if there are little ones around. Hint: display them on a serving platter for everyone to help themselves for an informal end to a delicious meal.
