The six-week holidays can feel like a long time to keep children occupied. Try these simple activities to make sure they have fun this Summer (and keep out of trouble).
The UK is home to so many great sandy shores. Grab a net and go crabbing, or put together a treasure hunt of things for them to spot (interesting shaped shells, or local wildlife perhaps), before topping the day off with a delicious ice cream. Make sure they’re dressed for the task with our Holiday Shop.
Sleepovers are a defining part of childhood. Whether with siblings, cousins or friends, no Summer is complete without an evening of fort building, storytelling and midnight feasts. Make it even more fun for little partners-in crime by dressing them in co-ordinating sets to give them their own “sleepover uniform”.
With so many beautiful fruits in season, there’s no better time to get children in the kitchen. So simple even the smallest members of the family can get involved, it’s a great way to encourage healthy eating, too. Rustle up some fruit kebabs (let them play around with their favourite colour combinations), whip up a fruit salad, or take a look at our tasty fruit-filled ice lolly recipes.
For budding little Picassos there’s nothing better than an afternoon spent painting. Set up a mini artists’ studio with our easels and let them scribble to their hearts’ content (why not challenge them to copy some of our signature prints, which all start off as sketches in head office?). Later, help them set up their own gallery, so they can proudly display their works to other family members.
For really little ones, Summer is a good time to get them exploring and boost their development. With plenty more room in the garden than there ever will be in the house, there’s ample space for them to toddle around. They’ll love pushing around our beautiful wooden walker, or whizzing around in our timeless ride-on car.
