Stocking up on everything you need to welcome the pitter-patter of tiny feet into your life can be overwhelming. A selection of pieces for baby’s arrival and the first few days, also known as a layette, will create the beginnings of their very own wardrobe. Here’s what to add to make those precious milestones – from taking them home to tucking them up – even more special.
You’ll want something memorable (and picture-perfect) for this, and our adorably soft brushed-cotton flannel sleepsuit is a great choice. In gender-neutral grey (ideal if you’re having a surprise), it’s decorated with a scattering of white stars and fastens easily through the front.
You’ll be amazed how many of these ever-practical essentials you’ll go through in the first few months, so it’s good to stock up on more than you think you’ll need (because doing the laundry won’t be top of your to-do list, either). Our pack of three – presented in a gorgeous drawstring bag – is a great place to start. Each one is made from soft pure cotton, and fastens with nickel-free poppers around the legs (great for sensitive skin). They also have envelope necklines, which make changing easy.
Offering the comfort of being cosily swaddled without the need for loose bedding or blankets, a sleeping bag will calm and soothe little ones (once they’ve surpassed 4kg, or 8lb 13oz). Sumptuously soft, thanks to both a pure-cotton exterior and lining, this sleeping bag is decorated with an all-over Kimbo-elephant print and has a lighter 1.0 tog rating, which provides a mid-weight finish that’s perfect as we head into Spring.
A cosy sleepsuit or two will keep them lovely and snug, while our natural pure-cotton fabrics and meticulous finishes will give you peace of mind. Some of our sleepsuits also come with integral scratch mitts, while our footed options are lined to protect tiny toes from loose threads. We add printed soles from nine months upwards for added grip when they start to find their feet.
Not only do they look adorable when they’re safely wrapped up in a hooded towel after a bath, but it’s a quick and easy way to get them dry and ensure they don’t catch a chill. Wonderfully soft and fluffy, with cute bear ears on the hood, the hydrocotton we use makes our bath towels feel thicker than normal, yet still lightweight, absorbent and fast drying.
