This Spring, The Little White Company has grown. We’ve expanded our age ranges, bringing you even more gorgeous pieces, for babies, toddlers and now juniors. We caught up with The Little White Company’s senior merchandiser, Vijai Basdeo, to get the lowdown.
Q: What inspired this season’s The Little White Company collection?
A: For Spring 16, we were inspired by the magical fantasy world of fairies and the adventurous spirit of Space travel. We have something for whatever your little one enjoys.
Q: What is your favourite piece of the collection and why is it special?
A: We have many beautiful pieces this Spring, I especially love the detail and effort we put into our children’s nightwear collection. My personal favourite is the Flutter Fairy print. We’re lucky this season to have it featured not only on nightwear, but also on our beautiful 200-thread-count percale bed linen, which is perfect for little ones who love to immerse themselves in a magical wonderland.
Q: Tell us a little bit more about the new size ranges.
A: With our new Junior size range we have truly grown up. This has helped us to appeal to specific age segments: our Toddler range is for 1-5 years, allowing us the opportunity to create cuter and more adorable pieces for our younger pre-school children. Our Junior range is for 4-12 years and has a cooler and cleaner feel to it – just perfect for looking good when your little one is out of school uniform.
Q: What separates The Little White Company from other brands?
A: For me, what sets us apart from everyone else is our attention to detail. Everything we do is made with the customer in mind; we spend huge amounts of time discussing the tiniest details and ensuring everything in our range is the best it can be, from the design to the fabric to the quality.
Q: Why is 100% cotton so important when it comes to our little one’s clothing?
A: Cotton is an amazing fabric. It’s hypoallergenic, so it’s perfect for children with sensitive skin. Cotton has the ability to make the wearer cooler in hotter temperatures, yet warmer when there’s a chill in the air. One of my favourite features of cotton is the breathability; it allows for moisture to be transferred away from the skin at a quicker rate than synthetic fabrics, making it the ideal fabric for playful little ones.
Q: Finally, the half-term holiday has arrived. What are the perfect pieces for little ones to wear during their time off?
A: For me, while it’s still warming up outside, it’s always lovely to keep little ones cosy in key knitwear pieces. For girls, I simply love our knitted dresses, which are really easy to wear. They are warm, yet still fun enough for a trip to the park or smart enough for a day out with the grandparents. For boys, I love our layering transitional pieces – they look great under a coat and are warm enough to layer up if your little one is braving the British weather.
