This season we’re all about embracing a laid-back, clean, healthy lifestyle, which is why we’re thrilled to introduce our new JING tea collection. Featuring a stunning range of hand-blown glass teaware and some of Asia’s finest whole leaf teas, we caught up with JING founder Edward Eisler to find out more.
Q: What was the inspiration behind JING?
A: The desire to make the pleasures of Chinese tea culture accessible to the Western world was my main inspiration. It all started when I spent a great deal of time travelling around Asia, specifically China, Taiwan, Japan and India from the age of 19. I also studied Mandarin and qualified in Chinese Medicine. During my travels, I started finding and working with master tea makers, learning the art of the Gongfu tea ceremony, and felt tea culture was something the UK was missing out on.
Q: What would be on your shopping list from JING at The White Company?
A: First on my list would be our Jasmine Silver Needle Tea. This is created by picking silver needle buds, sun drying them beneath a bed of jasmine flowers for seven nights and then marrying the sweet white tea with fresh, fragrant jasmine. The perfect accessories to this would have to be our hand-crafted Glass Infuser Mug and Two Cup Teapot Set which offer a practical yet stylish way to make and serve loose leaf tea (it doesn’t have to be hard work!).
Q: Do you have a favourite The White Company fragrance?
A: My wife adores the Seychelles collection, which makes my Christmas shopping easy every year! We were also thrilled to learn that your founder, Chrissie, is a fan of our Lemongrass And Ginger Tea.
Q: What’s the best JING tea to drink for relaxing at the weekend?
A: Personally, I love to drink roasted oolong and fresh green teas at the weekend. Jade Sword is one of our most popular green teas. It’s bright and fresh, a lovely clean tea to suit all occasions (especially when relaxing on a Sunday afternoon)
Q: Is it a good idea to drink tea before you go to bed?
A: All of our herbal infusions are caffeine-free so are great for last thing at night. I personally like to drink chamomile before I go to sleep, due to its cleansing and calming effects.
