Who doesn’t love to discover a new city and, with all this sunshine, why not choose a staycation in the West Country? Ceri Nixon, store manager at our Cribbs Causeway location in Bristol, provides us with an insider’s guide to the city.
What is your favourite thing about living in Bristol?
The diverse cultures, amazing food, wonderful green spaces and the lively music scene.
If someone was visiting Bristol for a weekend, what would you recommend they do?
Start the day by catching the water ferry from the train station into town, followed by a leisurely brunch. Then, stroll along the waterfront and check out an exhibition at either the M Shed, or the Arnolfini. Wander up to the suspension bridge and take in the amazing views, and then book a table at one of the great hidden speakeasies around the city for a fabulous cocktail. My favourite is the The Milk Thistle.
What makes Bristol different from other cities?
It’s such a lively and colourful place to live. The people are really friendly and there is always something going on!
Where would you recommend for a day of shopping?
I couldn’t choose just one place. There is Cribbs Causeway which is great, and has a brilliant selection of shops and restaurants all under one roof. I’d also suggest Gloucester Road, which is full of small independent shops.
Where is the best place to take children in Bristol during the Summer holidays?
Bristol is amazing for kids and, last time my nephews were here, we went to a bug exhibition at the Watershed. They got to draw, hold and even eat some bugs. This was followed by a trip to the Aquarium, which has a wonderful pool where you can watch the sting rays.
Where is the best place to go for brunch in Bristol?
There are so many places to choose from, but my personal favourite is The Bristolian on Picton Street.
