This year, we’ve made hosting New Year’s Eve an effortless affair with our five-step guide to mark the occasion in style. Just add friends and fizz.
1. Something to wear
First things first, you can’t host a fabulous party without something equally fabulous to wear, so now’s the time to treat yourself. Our bestselling Lace V-Neck Dress is the most sophisticated little black dress we’ve seen. With a figure-skimming silhouette that’s flattering for all, plus statement sleeves, all it needs is a pair of dainty black sandals to complete the look.

2. Something to set the mood
Whether you’re serving a sit-down dinner, light bites or just drinks, set the mood with sparkling lights. While candlelight will always add a romantic glow (our Highland Escape Candles are infused with notes of saffron, vetivert and whisky to put you in the party mood), covering your walls with our new curtain fairy lights is an easy way to make your space look dramatic. Continue this theme throughout your home by filling vases and lanterns with pillar candles. The result will look truly magical.
Don’t forget to create a crowd-pleasing playlist, too. Ask guests to send a song request in advance for a personalised touch.
3. Something to serve
Impress guests with a twist on a classic champagne reception. Our sparkling pear cocktail looks wonderful served in elegant champagne flutes and is surprisingly easy to concoct. Here’s how to make each one:
45ml pear vodka
½ tsp ginger syrup
Pear, thinly sliced
Sprig of rosemary
- In a champagne flute, gently stir together the vodka and ginger syrup. Top up the glass with chilled champagne, garnish with a slice of pear, sprig of rosemary and enjoy.
- You can create a mocktail version of this drink, too, simply by swapping the vodka and champagne for elderflower or soda water.
4. Something for when the clock strikes 12
Jazz up your rendition of Auld Lang Syne with our Novelty Crackers. Nestled within each one is a little whistle (each has a different note to the next) and a music sheet so you can create an orchestra in your living room. It’s the perfect way to ring in the new year and keep the party going into the early hours.
Remember to keep a few bottles of champagne chilling in our elegant Champagne Trug, ready for the stroke of midnight.
5. Something to look forward to
Once your last guest has departed and all the fun, games and madness is over, it’s finally time to relax. Light a soothing Spa Relax Candle, slip into some luxury silk pyjamas and enjoy a little nightcap on the sofa before hunkering down for a wonderful night’s sleep (leave the cleaning for the morning).
Get everything in order for breakfast-in-bed before you sleep so you really can indulge when your alarm goes off. Deck our special Breakfast In Bed Tray with our bone-china side plates, mugs and Robert Welch Cutlery so, come morning, all you have to do is pop the kettle and toaster on.
