…cycling for charity, counting down to Christmas and getting ready to cosy up.
1 Celebrating women
“When I first researched charities for The White Company to partner with for our White Heart Foundation, I was truly shocked by the level of help and support needed in the UK. This really informed our decision to concentrate on three UK charities – the Prince’s Trust, Refuge and Place2Be. This month I was delighted to co-host with Google’s Eileen Naughton, the launch of Women Supporting Women for the Prince’s Trust. Women Supporting Women is a passionate new group committed to changing young women’s lives. Many of the young women we help have had an unbelievably tough start in life. The Prince’s Trust helps them to get back on track with counselling, training and special courses to re-build their confidence and get them into work, education or enterprise. The work the charity does is literally life-changing, life-saving and has so many wonderful success stories. A huge thank you to our amazing speakers at the event. I’m so excited about working together to help young women realise their dreams. We would love you to become involved – to learn more about Women Supporting Women, please visit: firstname.lastname@example.org. We hope this is the start of something very special.”
2 Getting active to support our charity partners
“We’ve also been busy fundraising for our White Heart Foundation charities. On 2nd October, we embarked on the 45-mile Palace to Palace cycle ride from Buckingham Palace to Windsor Castle in support of the Prince’s Trust. It’s been a whole new world of padded seats, padded shorts and Deliciously Ella Energy Balls which I have now become a bit addicted to! Reaching the finishing line was such an achievement, and I’m incredibly grateful that so many of The White Company team gave up their time to take part and help raise money.
“We also took part in the Walk 4 Refuge and even an 515ft abseil down Broadgate Tower in support of Place2Be. So far, we are on track to raise over £120,000 and counting.”
3 Feeling Autumnal
“I love it when the seasons turn and it’s time to cosy up. I always know Autumn has arrived when I start wearing my favourite Hooded Hydrocotton Robe. There’s no beating the feeling of wrapping up in it after a good soak in the bath. Now is also time to switch to a warmer-weight duvet (out with the 4 tog and in with the 9 tog!), and enjoy adding lovely layers to our beds again. This Autumn, I particularly love our Erskin Collection. I’m a big fan of beautiful layering knitwear, too, at this time of year. I’m really proud of our lovely new knits, two of my favourites include our cashmere poncho and our great blanket style wrap. Time too, for wonderful Winter roasted veggies, which look great in our exciting new oven-to-table Porto Roaster. Looking forward to Bonfire Night now…”
4 Cheering on young horse riders
“Riding was such a huge part of my childhood and something that I always feel taught me in life that no matter how many times you fall off, you just have to get back on! I’m still passionate about horses and riding, and was thrilled that The White Company sponsored this year’s British Show Pony Society Sports Pony of the Year at Burghley. Huge congratulations to the individual category winners and Champion, Saffron Osborne riding Plasrevene Matty’s Mate. The competition is three phase, including dressage, working hunter pony and finishes with an exciting show-jumping section, where riders take on the ‘joker fence’ for extra points – this year’s was modeled on a four-poster bed from The White Company (see below). For the real thing – without safety poles! – see our Pimlico Four Poster Bed from The White Company.”
5 Taking part in Decorex
“We really enjoyed our first time at this year’s Decorex (the internationally renowned event showcasing hand-picked design, lifestyle and furniture exhibitors). It is a fantastic destination to inspire interior designers, big commercial developers and more. If you’re interested in opening a trade account with us, please contact Janie Martin at: B2B@thewhitecompany.com.”
6 Joining Red’s Smart Women
“One of the things I enjoy most about my work at The White Company is the opportunity to meet women with their own businesses. As part of Red Magazine’s Smart Women Week, I was invited to host a mentoring lunch. It was a fantastic opportunity to share some lessons learnt from my experience of launching a business, and the chance to be inspired by some wonderful women with real entrepreneurial spirit.”
7 Getting into the Christmas spirit
“Believe it or not, we’re already thinking about Christmas 2017. We’ve been immersing ourselves in mood boards and looking at the first product samples. I love Christmas, and always want The White Company to offer both wonderful inspiration and gorgeous pieces for the festive season. Every year, the team is challenged to find different ways to make Christmas magical, and it’s fantastic seeing all that hard work come to life. You won’t need to wait long to experience this year’s Christmas collection, and in the meantime, there’s a preview online here. Look out for the full collection coming very soon.”
